Taku Obata was one of the founding members of a B-boy crew the “Unityselections” in the late 1990’s and since then has been redefining the B-Boy genre through his contributions in dance, music and arts.
Obata’s background in dance plays a significant role in his work, giving him a distinct perspective on the human body and its movements. The result is a series of hand chiseled wood sculptures which display a remarkable sense of energy and motion delivered with “attitude”. Obata’s sculptures present a series of stances, the artsists’ vision of a moment in a dance sequence.
